Vasyl Kostyuk supported the festival "Tu Stany. Hero's Path" with a million hryvnias

Vasyl Kostyuk supported the festival “Tu Stan. Path of the Hero” in the Tustan Reserve

The festival of historical culture “Tu Stan. The Hero’s Path”, which took place from July 31 to August 2 at the state historical and cultural reserve “Tustan” in the Lviv region, brought together reenactors, traditional craftsmen, musicians, and researchers of Ukrainian heritage. One of those who contributed to the organization of the event was Vasyl Kostyuk. His foundation allocated 1 million hryvnias to the festival, reports Vasyl Kostyuk Foundation.

This year’s festival was dedicated to the memory of the Hero of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy, who was one of the initiators of the event and had taken care of the reserve for over twenty years.

History that can be seen and felt

A unique feature of “Tu Stan” remains the opportunity not just to get acquainted with history but to directly engage in the recreation of ancient crafts. Over three days, visitors could observe blacksmiths at work, try their hand at the loom and pottery wheel, see leather processing, and the making of chain mail.

A separate part of the program consisted of historical reenactments. Members of clubs from various regions of Ukraine recreated the lifestyle and combat practices of past eras, held duels, and demonstrated a fortress assault — one of the most anticipated events of the festival.

The music program combined contemporary Ukrainian performances and traditional art. The festival featured Maria Burmaka, Sviatoslav Boiko, Serhiy Fomenko and the band ‘Mandry’, OT VINTA, ‘Dudaryk’, Hutsul trembitary from Kryvorivnia, Sofia Fedyna, Oleh Skrypka and ‘Vopli Vidoplyasova’. There were also literary readings and poetic events.

Tustan is part of Ukrainian historical heritage

The festival traditionally takes place in Urych, Lviv region — a site where the remains of the ancient rock fortress Tustan are preserved. In the IX–XVI centuries, it served defensive, administrative and customs functions, controlling an important trade route.

Today, this territory has the status of a state historical and cultural reserve. The combination of natural landscape, archaeological monuments and recreated historical practices makes Tustan a unique space for promoting Ukrainian history.

Support for cultural heritage

For Vasyl Kostyuk, supporting the festival became a contribution to preserving historical memory and continuing the work that Andriy Parubiy and the reserve team have been carrying out for years.

The funds provided by the foundation were used for organizing the event, which combined cultural, educational and historical aspects. Such support allows not only individual festivals to be held but also ensures the further development of venues where Ukrainian heritage remains part of modern social life.

Vasyl Kostyuk is convinced that preserving national identity is an important task for Ukraine, especially in the context of a full-scale war. Defending the country involves not only protecting its territory but also preserving the history, culture, and traditions that shape Ukrainian society.

That is why supporting cultural and charitable projects remains one of the directions of his patronage activities. The festival ‘Tu Stany. Path of the Hero’ has become an example of how private initiatives and charitable support help preserve historical heritage and pass it on to future generations.
